Lieu: SFMOMA 151 3rd St, San Francisco, CA 94103, Phyllis Wattis Theater, Floor 1
Description: REAS by Lola Arias (Argentina, Germany, and Switzerland, 2024). In Spanish with English subtitles: 82 minutes. The screening will be followed by a short Q&A session. Yoseli has a tattoo of the Eiffel Tower on her back and has always wanted to travel to Europe, but she was arrested at the airport for drug trafficking. Nacho is a transman who was arrested for swindling and started a rock band in jail. Gentle or rough, blonde or shaved, cis or trans, long-term inmates or newly admitted: in this hybrid musical, they all re-enact their lives in a Buenos Aires prison. REAS is a collective work that reinvents the musical genre: the performers dance and sing about their past in prison, relive their life as fiction, and invent, through fantasy and imagination, a possible future for themselves. This screening is made possible with the generous support of Princeton University.

Description: Special Film Program Curated by Jesse Lerner Cuerpos: Territorios y travesías/Bodies: Territories and Crossings, a 75-minute screening curated by filmmaker and scholar Jesse Lerner. ""Through a diverse selection of short experimental documentaries, avant-garde films, and the documentation of performances, this eclectic program suggests some of the ways in which artists and filmmakers from Latin American and the Latin American diaspora have used and represented the human body—their own and those of others—over the past fifty years. By turns poetic or angry, humorous or somber, together these ten short titles present a broad and powerful range of meditations on our bodies as both a vehicle and subject of media arts"".
