En el Congreso Internacional de la Asociación de Estudios Latinoamericanos, se llevó a cabo un panel sobre los derechos de la naturaleza y los no humanos, en el que se reflexionó sobre la relación entre los pueblos y el territorio, así como las estrategias utilizadas para defender los cuerpos naturales. En el caso del Chocó, una región de Colombia, se destacó la importancia de los ríos como parte fundamental de la vida de las comunidades, no solo como fuente de movilidad, sino también como elementos esenciales de su cultura y sustento.
