“Reflexionar sobre el cuerpo y desde las humanidades, en el mundo contemporáneo, es de las formas más radicales de pensar”.
Con estas palabras, el rector Carlos Peña inauguró el lanzamiento de LASA2025: “Poner el cuerpo en LatinxAmérica”, congreso organizado por la Asociación de Estudios Latinoamericanos (LASA) que se llevará a cabo entre el 23 y 26 de mayo de 2025 en la ciudad de San Francisco, Estados Unidos.
En su intervención, el rector Peña se refirió a la importancia de este encuentro y comentó que, frente a los conflictos que supone la modernidad, las humanidades cumplen un rol esencial y lamentó que estas disciplinas sean vistas con distancia: “En el mundo cartesianamente entendido, las humanidades son una presencia relativamente marginal, una manifestación de la imaginación a veces delirante, de poetas, de escritores, de pintores. Las humanidades no son vistas como una forma de inteligir, de comprender el mundo”.
