Las discusiones sobre biopolítica en América Latina se han enfocado mayormente en regímenes capitalistas para enfatizar el modo en que lógicas como las neoliberales producen cuerpos sufrientes despojados de derechos mínimos. Las dicotomías ideológicas interpretativas (izquierda/derecha) han imposibilitado una crítica de igual magnitud para analizar los regímenes revolucionarios de la región. Los debates sobre las gestiones estatales con relación al Covid-19 confirman este fenómeno ya que la actual situación de países como Cuba, Nicaragua y Venezuela apenas si es abordada en los análisis regionales.
