Statement
As an active LASA member since 2009, involved in various tracks and sections of the congress, I consider the association an intellectual ¨home¨ to be revisited each year during the annual meetings. Since 2017, I served on the Executive Committee of the International Migration section, now called Migration, Displacement, and Mobility. I have also co-chaired the sections of International Relations (2023-4) and Migration and Refugees (2024-5).
My experience with LASA has led me to conceive it as an association breaking South and North political boundaries, as an extraordinary exercise of scientific diplomacy across the Americas. The open borders of Latin American social science and humanities may pave the way for more awareness in the region. I also believe in LASA´s role outside the Americas and its cooperation with other continental associations.
