Hace casi 20 años hice una tesis en filosofía política en la que proponía que si nos tomábamos en serio la igualdad y la libertad, tendríamos que construir un sistema mundial muy distinto al actual. Usaba al Rawls de “Teoría de la justicia” para proponer un sistema internacional donde instituciones globales garantizaran que las circunstancias de nacer en un lugar determinado no afectaran sustancialmente nuestro desarrollo. No implicaba un mundo de gobierno único, pero sí uno de soberanías limitadas, donde poderosas instituciones regulasen la distribución de riqueza, la seguridad y los abusos de los gobiernos.
