LASA2020 in Guadalajara is still happening and offers virtual participation

March 11, 2020

Dear LASA members:

We have been receiving some messages of concern regarding the coronavirus and its impact on our congress. In response, we would like to share with you that, as of today, the LASA2020 Congress is still in force and the planning process continues with confidence and enthusiasm. Our annual congress is a unique opportunity for academic meetings and exchanges, and friendship, which revitalize and strengthen our academic community.

Yet, as a professional association, we are committed to the health, safety, and care of our members. That’s why we continuously follow the local and global conditions affecting our event. COVID-19 is a developing situation, and responsibly,  we are monitoring it closely, because we are aware of how quickly circumstances can change.

As of today, we have no plans to postpone or cancel this congress, except for compelling reasons beyond our control. At the same time, we would like to inform you that, for the first time at LASA, anyone who is unable to travel to a large conference will have the option of presenting their work virtually.

Registration is open, but in view of the uncertainty created by this situation, it will remain open for two more weeks (through March 26), with the possibility of registration reimbursement for those who cannot travel or do not wish to present virtually.

Communication is very important to us. We ask and thank you for continuously checking LASA’s web page (https://www.lasaweb.org/en/lasa2020/), in which we will be providing updated information related to this situation and its impact on the congress, rather than writing individual emails, whenever possible.

We hope to welcome you soon in Guadalajara in order to, from Améfrica Ladina, link worlds and knowledge and weave hopes!
